Our List of Outstanding Made in USA Toys for the ... - USA Love List

I recently read an article on the Huffington Post Blog, "How New Parents Can Bring Back 'Made in the USA' ", that reminded me of why I started paying attention to product labels and actively seeking out American made items. My husband and I were fairly new parents at the time we began seeking out 'Made in the USA' products- our kiddos were about 4 and 2. At that time, it seemed like almost everyday there were 'Made in China'? toys being recalled for containing lead. We started questioning the content of toys made over seas, and we started wondering what those toys (and clothes) came in contact with during their journey to the states that could be harmful to our little ones. That Christmas we made sure to purchase American made gifts for our kids when ever possible.

The following three American companies care about what their toys are made of and are proud to make safe toys for little ones:

Green Toys products are produced in California and are made from recycled milk jugs. Though made from plastic the toys contain no trace of Phthalates or BPA.? There are tons of great toys to choose from! Cars, trucks, bath toys, blocks, pretend play sets (tea set, pictured).

Maple Landmark toys are wood crafted and made in Vermont. Maple Landmark prides themselves on the educational value of their toys. Some of the items Maple Landmark carries that could be on your shopping list are American made? rattles (pictured) and teethers, wooden blocks, jigsaw puzzles, games, wooden cars and trucks, and hobby/rocking horses.

Holgate Toys is another great made in the USA wooden toy company. They carry a great selection of infant toys, cars, planes, vehicles and even the Mr. Rogers Trolley!

All of these companies have a 'store locator" link on their site. Check it out to find a retailer near you. Remember to buy local whenever possible this season to keep our Mom and Pop shops in business!

One of the biggest challenges I have found in Holiday shopping with 'made in the USA' as a priority is actually finding out whether the item I want is even made in America. Stop searching and start with our list.
